When Actions Speak

Prompt: Three Closest Friends
Word Count: Less then 600 (456 to be exact)
Picture count: 6
Characters: Alice T. Stein, Jane Knolls, and Charlie Godfrey

People often say that actions speak louder then words. However, it’s probably more accurate to say that people speak with their actions. Even all the little things say something. Every smile, every laugh, every look, and even every frown says something.

“I, Alice T. Stein, know all there is to know about my best friends” remarked the green one.

“Charlie, of course, is my favorite. He is so full of life, even during the day when his needs plummet. He tries to look tough, but I know better. I know he’s just one great big cuddly teddy bear.”

“Poor little plain Jane unnerves me a tad bit. She stares too much, her voice is too high pitched, and her grin is far too goofy and wide as far as I’m concerned. She is awkward and shy, like I would have been if I hadn’t been courageous enough to rise above all of that.”

“I, Jane Knolls, have rather interesting best friends” squeaked the brown haired one.

“Alice is… Alice is a dream made flesh. She is so beautiful, kind, lovely, sophisticated and soft. It’s an honor just to be near her. My only wish is that I could be as dear to her as she is dear to me. She’s so perfect and I’m so plain.”

“I don’t understand why she is so fond of Charlie. Sure, we’re all friends, but she’s always talking to him, laughing at all his jokes, and just generally adores him. He doesn’t deserve her. She is the very essence of refinement and he is rough, at best. I don’t care how nice he is. He lacks refinement.”

“I, Charlie Godfrey, am rather insightful when it comes to my two very best friends” the fanged one maintained coldly.

“Over the years, Alice has become the vainest creature in existence. She is always primping and staring into mirrors. The only thing Alice ever talks about is herself. She even does it when she’s talking about other people! I wish I knew how to convince her that everything isn’t about her.”

“Jane is more… complicated. I don’t like the way she is around Alice. She refuses to speak with me but moons over Alice. Jane just isn’t any fun around Alice. She turns into this … I don’t know. She’s just not the Jane I know when she’s around Alice. When she isn’t around Alice she’s intelligent and slightly mysterious, rather than a giggling idiot. There is no one more interesting in all the world. I wish I knew how to convince her that there is no reason for the uncertainty in her eyes.”

These were never hidden things. They were in every action and every reaction, if only people knew to listen.

I like how you took it from each friend's point of view and how none of them feel the same way about each other.
